Computer Software Genius

Do you use a computer at school or at home? If so, then you have probably used a computer program that Bill Gates invented. When Gates was growing up in Seattle, Washington, he loved computers. At that time many people did not like computers because they were hard to use.

In college, Gates knew that he wanted to make the best computer programs in the world. Gates and his friend Paul Allen started a company called Microsoft. They made computer programs that were easy to use. People everywhere started to use computers in their homes, classrooms, and businesses.

Gates became the wealthiest businessman in the late 1900s. He does more, however, than invent computer programs. Gates uses his money to help other people. Gates and his wife started the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This group helps people around the world get a good education and medicine they might need.
