Jerry Yang 1969–
Created the Yahoo! Website

Jerry Yang was born in Taiwan, a country in Asia. When he was ten, his family came to the United States. They settled in San Jose, California. Jerry Yang knew one English word when he came here — “shoe.” He worked hard in school and learned quickly. He went to college in California.

Yang had a friend, a student named David Filo. Together, they found a new way to use technology. They liked searching the Internet. They started keeping track of their favorite Web sites. In 1994, they created Yahoo! to help their friends search the Internet for Web sites. They found that a lot more people needed an easy way to find Web sites. Soon, millions of people were using Yahoo! Today, their business has many consumers.
