Background
Long ago, women in the United States were not allowed to vote. In the 1800s, women began working together to win the right to vote. They made speeches about it. They also marched together to show how important it was for women to be able to vote. Then, in 1920, the U.S. government gave women the right to vote. In this photograph you can see how people dressed in 1914. You can also see that there are more men than women on this city street.
