Grade 3, Chapter 4 Investigation Organizer:
Tennis Anyone?
Summary: What sports do you like to play? Your group will conduct a survey to help a local television station find out which sports your classmates like to play. You will use bar graphs to display the results of your survey.
1. Plan It
A. Brainstorm. Think of sports you and your classmates like to play or watch.
- Pick eight favorite sports.
B. Create a tally sheet. Use the tally sheet on page 155 of your book, or use the Tally Sheet Chart provided here on Education Place.
- Leave space for other sports. Also, make a space for "None" in case someone does not like sports.

2. Put It Together
Ask questions. Ask your classmates which three sports they like to play and which three sports they like to watch.
- Use tally marks to record their answers.

3. Wrap It Up
Make graphs. Create two bar graphs. One is for the sports your class plays. The other is for the sports your class watches.
- Total the tally marks to make the bar graphs.
- Put a title and labels on your graphs.

- How well did you conduct the survey and record the answers?
