Country Butter
Ingredients
- heavy or whipping cream
- salt, optional
- crackers or bread
Directions
- Pour about 1/2" of cream into several clear containers, such as baby food jars. (Use 1" for larger jars.) Seal lids tightly.
- Children take turns shaking the jars. The cream will turn into whipped cream. After more shaking, butter pieces will form.
- Once the butter is obvious, stop shaking. Drain the buttermilk, which will taste sweeter than store-bought buttermilk.
- Taste the butter. Add salt, if desired. Spread butter on crackers or bread.
